Proper Steps:

Begin lying on machine with your hands griping the handles on the outside of the foot rest, and your legs hanging off of the machine
Brace your core by pulling your spine into your belly button and keeping your rib cage tucked 
Create the motion by pressing your waistband into the pad and contracting your glutes until your legs are parallel to the floor
control your legs descent to the starting position
Repeat for desired amount of repetitions
