The Outdoor Recreation Center at Washington State University is holding its 4th Annual Palouse Outdoor Festival on Saturday September 23rd from 10:00am-3:00pm at Wawawai County Park with registration opening at 9:30am! This is your opportunity to try rock climbing, kayaking, or stand up paddle boarding for free! On Saturday, come down to Wawawai County Park where you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at these amazing activities. There will also be great clinics for you to take advantage of, such as back-country cooking, LNT certification, and SUP yoga. In advance of National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands, participants will have the opportunity to beautify the areas of Granite Point and Wawawai County Park. Food is NOT provided, so please bring a bag lunch to picnic with your family and friends. SUP Tours at Snake River You will have the opportunity to try out one of our new SUP boards by touring down the Snake River with our facilitators leading the way. Kayak Tours at Snake River Facilitators will lead you on relaxing kayak paddle down the gorgeous Snake River. You will have the opportunity to explore the river in your own sea kayak. Rock Climbing at Granite Point Come learn a few of the basics of rock climbing. All equipment is provided and no experience is necessary. Use this opportunity to try something new for FREE! SUP Yoga Challenge your yoga skills by trying them on one of our NEW paddle boards. Our yoga instructor will lead you through a basic yoga session on our new paddle boards in the still pond located at Wawawai County Park. Back Country Cooking 101 In this clinic, you will learn how to use a whisper lite stove and backcountry cook set to cook a meal that you would eat in the back country. Get tips and tricks for making your back country cooking easier and tastier. Slackline Demos We will show you how to set up a slackline and provide you with some tips and tricks for getting started. This is a time for you to try something new and learn some new skills. Leave No Trace Awareness Clinic This is for all ages! Leave No Trace is about making good decisions to protect the world around you so we can all enjoy the outdoors responsibly. You will receive a Leave No Trace Certificate after completing this clinic.
