Personal Training Workshops-Boxing 101

This hour-long workshop is designed as a brief introduction to boxing basics, including an overview of the mental and physical benefits, and what resources are available through the recreation center for those interested in learning more skills or practicing the basics learned in the workshop. During the hands-on portion of the workshop, participants will learn how to wrap up. They will then learn proper form for six basic punches, including jabs, cross, hooks, and uppercuts. They will also learn two defensive moves: ducks and slips.

Every day activity requires bending and lifting. This is a fundamental component of human life. In a society where muscular deficiencies are prevalent, it is imperative to understand how to move your body safely and efficiently with regard to such repetitive movements. Quality movement is often lost in the human body due to the various conditions that individuals lives take up. In this work shop, Nathan Gordon will teach you how to properly dead lift, which is one of the most fundamental movement patterns the human body initiates on a daily basis. Understanding the proper mechanics of the deadlift will not only increase your strength gains and protect you from injury in the gym, but it will also aid in the reduction of injury in every day tasks that involve bending and lifting. xlk
