Interested in participating in a fitness class?

A membership or a day/guest pass is required to participate in classes located at the Chinook and SRC. Please note that there is a SRC and FSFP member rate for Chinook classes, which only provides Chinook access to SRC/FSFP members 20 minutes prior to class to 20 minutes after. 

A Fitness punch card does not provide access to the SRC or Chinook for non-members.  Participants may gain access to facilities via membership, day/guest pass, or a facilities punch card.

Fitness Class Refund Policy

With receipt or proof of purchase, a full refund given within 6 days after the start of class, 50% refund within 13 days after the start of class.  No refund will be given after 13 days of the start of class. Additionally, to keep costs low, all classes are assessed for cancellation at the end of the first week of the session.  Participants in classes with low enrollment will be given the option of a full refund or transfer into another class.

CrossFit is broad, general and inclusive fitness that seeks to prepare participants for any physical or unknown contingency. You will work on the foundational movements of CrossFit while increasing your knowledge of fundamental CrossFit exercises and increasing your work capacity. Intro to CrossFit is an 8 week course that meets twice a week. Through the 16 classes, you will be taught the fundamental CrossFit movements, perform a Workout of the Day (WOD) and begin tracking strength numbers.

Interested in becoming a lifeguard? Take this American Red Cross certification course now! This course teaches the duties, responsibilities and skills necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Successful participants will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Youth participants, under the age of 18, must complete the youth registration for this course. This registration is for adults who are 18 years or older. Prerequisite: *Minimum age of 15 before the last day of the scheduled class. *Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Participants may use front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. *Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds. *Tread water with hands under armpits for 2 minutes. Certification Requirements: Attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions and scenarios, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent. The practice sessions will require some strenuous physical activity. You are encouraged to check with your health-care professional before participating in the practice sessions. Once children can perform basic skills without parental assistance, they may begin independent Preschool courses (ages 4 and 5). Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills. Orients participants to the aquatic environment and helps them to gain basic aquatic skills. Participants will learn how to enter and exit the water, in addition to learning breath control, retrieval of submerged objects, floating on the front and back, hand movements for treading in chest-deep water and an introduction to swimming on the front. Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Builds on basic aquatic skills and water safety concepts learned in Level 1. Participants will learn how to fully submerge, open their eyes and retrieve submerged objects in chest-deep water. In addition, participants will learn how to float in a face-down position and improve distance of front and back glides. Fitness Swimming is a structured aquatic program, which is designed to challenge all participants no matter their swimming abilities. Fitness Swimming offers on-deck coaching, with workouts tailored to the group of swimmers participating. Each workout plan will be adapted to each individual swimmer, to help push, challenge and improve each participant’s personal goals. This program is perfect for those wanting to cross train, improve swimming techniques, master skills, training for triathlons and more! Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites, however, all Fitness Swimming participant’s should be able to swim a length of 25 yards using freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke and be able to tread in deep water for at least 1 minute. Every Friday (beginning on May 10) we will be offering a FREE Fitness class varying in format from 5:10-6:00 pm at the SRC. *$10 entrance free for non-members, $6 with a member. Summer Session 1 fitness class schedule will run May 6-June 23. Please note that classes will not run as scheduled on Memorial Day, May 27. FREE classes during All Access Days, May 6 & 7.

Purchasing the CrossFit membership will allow you to attend an unlimited number of Washington State University CrossFit classes. A Chinook or SRC membership is required to purchase a CrossFit Pass. Pass holders may attend classes in facilities where they are members; SRC members may attend classes at Down Under, and Chinook members may attend classes at the Chinook. The CrossFit pass does not include membership or provide access to facilities for non-members. Note: If you would like to participate in CrossFit for the entire Summer, you will need to purchase the Cross Fit pass for both Session 1 (5/8-6/23) and Session 2 (6/24-7/28). Summer Session 3 details will be released mid summer. Receive a $10 discount for purchasing both sessions at checkout. Zumba, Youth (ages 12-18)

Lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape at the original dance-fitness party. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Classes are structured to build dance foundations for newcomers who don't have experience while also challenging and further developing seasoned dancers. Zumba, Youth invites youth ages 12-18 to join. Parents or guardians of youth between 12-14 will need to drop their youth off at 245 but do not need to be present in the class for youth to participate.
