WSU Eco Adventures are outdoor recreational programming opportunities that are joined with ecologically positive action. WSU Eco Adventures promotes sustainable use of the outdoors through modeling positive user relationships with the environment. This program is a collaboration between the Center For Civic Engagement and University Recreation. Learn more about the Center for Civic Engagement
Programming includes seven to eight trips per year within the region and two to three feature trips a year, beyond the region. These programs seek to build and develop standing relationships with agencies, organizations, land managers, non-profits and course instructors.
Programs are within 150 miles of Pullman, WA. This reduces the time lost on a trip for travel, cost of travel, and adverse environmental impacts of driving. These programs also promote place-based learning in areas that participants may visit in the future or include in other projects, and enhances citizenship in the communities that our participants live and recreate in.
Registration Ends May 27
Eco Adventures are the cross-roads of outdoor recreation and civic engagement that provides participants with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural world, foster a deeper connection with the land, and develop a sense of place.
Come join us on this spectacular multi-faceted outdoor experience. During this Eco Adventure, participants will be sea kayaking and beautifying the area of Illia Dunes. This is an opportunity to help maintain one of the most popular outdoor hotspots of the Palouse; not to mention, we’ll be doing some awesome paddling on the Snake River as well! This is one of our most popular Eco Adventures, so register early!
Trip rating is level 1. No experience necessary! This trip runs rain or shine. Trip cost includes; kayak rental, transportation, and an Adventure Facilitator (food is not included so bring a snack and some water).
After participating in this Eco-Adventure participants will be able to see the rewards of their service and appreciate the land even more.
In order to minimize our environmental impact, maintain facilitator-to-participant ratios, meet permit criteria, and transportation logistics, ORC trips are often programmed for small groups (typically up to 6 participants with 2 facilitators). Late cancellations can seriously impact our ability to accommodate others and recover costs.
