Eco Adventures

WSU Eco Adventures are outdoor recreational programming opportunities that are joined with ecologically positive action. WSU Eco Adventures promotes sustainable use of the outdoors through modeling positive user relationships with the environment.  This program is a collaboration between the Center For Civic Engagement and University Recreation.

Programming includes seven to eight trips per year within the region and two to three feature trips a year, beyond the region. These programs seek to build and develop standing relationships with agencies, organizations, land managers, non-profits and course instructors.

Programs are within 150 miles of Pullman, WA. This reduces the time lost on a trip for travel, cost of travel, and adverse environmental impacts of driving. These programs also promote place-based learning in areas that participants may visit in the future or include in other projects, and enhances citizenship in the communities that our participants live and recreate in.

Registration Ends May 28

Eco Adventure: National Trail's Day Palouse Falls Day Hike and Clean-Up

Jun 3 in ORC Palouse Falls, ID
[Sa] 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
$15 - $35

Did you know that one of the greatest waterfalls in the Northwest is less than 90 miles away? Here the Palouse River plummets 185 feet into the river's canyon with surrounding cliffs at over 350 feet high! Palouse Falls is a major feature of the channeled scablands created by the great Missoula Floods that swept through eastern Washington during the Great Ice Age. Participants will be doing restoration to the trails and facilities then will hike around the falls while learning the natural and human history of the area. This adventure is extremely scenic and takes us away from roads and development. Trip rating is level 1. No experience necessary. Trip cost includes: transportation and adventure facilitators (Food is NOT included, so bring snacks, a lunch, and water). Cancellation Policy: In order to minimize our environmental impact, maintain facilitator-to-participant ratios, meet permit criteria, and transportation logistics, ORC trips are often programmed for small groups (typically up to 6 participants with 2 facilitators). Late cancellations can seriously impact our ability to accommodate others and recover costs. • Cancellations made up until 2 weeks prior to the registration deadline will receive a full refund. • Cancellations made within 2 weeks of the registration deadline receive 50% refund. • Sorry, no refunds are given past the registration deadline.
