Service & Activity Fee

The UREC portion of the Service and Activity Fee supports over:

  • 60 intramural activities
  • 32 sport clubs
  • 140 hours per week of fitness classes
  • 70 outdoor classes and trips
  • and personal training, safety education, challenge activities, Green Bikes and aquatics programming

These programs served more than 8500 students in 2016-2017.  Additionally, S & A Fee funding provides support for a wide variety of facility supervision and maintenance for:

  • Physical Education Building
  • Smith Gym
  • Tennis Courts
  • Hollingbery Fieldhouse and Track
  • All outdoor play fields including Grimes Way, Rogers Orton, South Fairway and Valley Road fields

This funding allows University Recreation programs, Registered Student Organizations, and informal student users to take advantage of all recreation facilities on campus.

The value of recreation to students is supported by results from five years of University Recreation’s Student Satisfaction Survey which indicates:

  • 83% of students who participate in our programs, services and facilities believe that University Recreation has made a valuable contribution to their total university experience
  • 85% of students find University Recreation programs, services, and facilities are important to them
  • 86% of students are satisfied with the quality of University Recreation programs, services, and facilities
