2018 Pac-12 Challenge: Recreation Movement

It's that time of year when Cougs have the chance to take on the rest of the Pac-12 to show off who has the most dedication to living a healthy, active life.  Move to reduce hunger in our community by logging minutes for the Pac-12 Recreation Movement!  Pac-12 schools have partnered with Starkist to raise money for campus and community food programs this fall.  From October 22-26, WSU has the opportunity to earn $2000 for the Cougs Feeding Cougs program, which provides meals for students in need, by logging fitness minutes at www.pac12challenge.org.  Every minute counts!

Calendar of Events

Free SRC and Chinook Access
Faculty, staff, and graduate students will have free access to the SRC and Chinook Center Monday – Friday of the Pac-12 Fitness Challenge.  To gain entry, please present your Cougar Card. 

Weight Room Challenge
Each day UREC Weight Room Attendants will score willing patrons on a different fitness challenge.  These challenges can help you gain more minutes of activity to help lead the Cougs to victory!  At the end of the week, the overall winner of the Weight Room Challenge will receive a prize.  

Mile High Ascent
Do you think you can climb 5,280 feet in five days? That is 165 roped ascents. Be one of the first three competitors to complete the mile high ascent and achieve glory, plus a prize!  Ascend to new heights as you ascend our wall. 

Monday (10/22): Thrill-O-Ween Dance Party
5:30-6:30 PM in SRC 245
Calling all Cougs! Do you love to dance? Do you need to add some fun to your fitness? Ready for a Thriller of a time? This high-energy, hip-hop dance class will be sure to get your heart pumping and your body sweating. In addition, you will learn the dance steps to Thriller.  No experience is necessary and all fitness levels are welcome to participate in this free class.  Come dressed in your best Thriller outfit!

Wednesday (10/24): AquaPatch
5:00 PM-9:00 PM in the SRC Pool
Come and pick out your holiday pumpkin!  We will be having our own version of a pumpkin patch in the SRC pool.  After you have picked your pumpkin out of the pool, you can carve/decorate the pumpkin by the table tennis tables in the SRC. 

Wednesday (10/24): Scary Spin

Get in the Halloween spirit by participating in Scary Spin. This 50 minute spin class will feature themed music, black lights, and effect lighting to enhance your ride. Wear your flashiest neon or white top and accessories to get ready for a scary time!

Wednesday (10/24): Frozen Pumpkin Hockey Shootout
6:00-8:00 PM in front of the SRC
Think you have what it takes to make a shot on our Ghost and Pumpkin Goalies? Meet us right outside the front of the SRC and prove it.

Thursday (10/25): Strongman Clinic
4:00-5:00 PMin Chinook B40
Have you ever wanted to pull a semi-truck or 747?  If so, 1). That’s awesome 2). This clinic will help you lay the foundation to do so.  Chris Santucci, UREC’s head Strongman Instructor will introduce you to functional strength lifts associated with Strongman and Strongwoman competitions around the world. We will cover fundamentals of Deadlift, Farmer’s Carry, Log Press, Yoke Carry, Atlas Stones, and Circus Dumbbell Press.  After learning the basics, Chris will take you through a strongman workout that you can use to log your minutes for the Pac 12 Challenge!
