5/12-5/18 Outdoor Educator Series: Backcountry Travel and Leadership
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast interested in developing your outdoor leadership skills, this course is for you. During this multi-day, professionally instructed and administered course, participants will embarking on a 4 day backpacking trip where they will learn the skills necessary to successfully lead outdoor activities in the backcountry. Participants who successfully complete the training and testing will be offered a certificate of completion. This training is not a guarantee for employment as an Adventure Facilitator, but is required to be hired.
Trip rating is level 1. No previous experience is necessary. There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting on May 7th at 6:00pm in the Outdoor Recreation Center Lobby. Trip cost includes: group gear, transportation, and instruction (food NOT included). Refunds will not be provided past the registration deadline. All health forms must be completed/submitted by the registration deadline.

May 12th – 8:00 am departure, backpacking
May 13 – Backpacking

May 17 – Backpacking, return to campus
May 18 – Course Closure and Evaluation
