Proper Steps:

Stand facing the cable with the swing arm set at its highest point
Grab the rope attachment with both hands, palms facing eachother
Maintain a slight but fixed  bend in the elbows
Without movement anywhere else in the body (emphasis on the elbows)
Bring the center of the rope towards your hips, holding for a second once you get there
Control the weight's return to the starting position
Repeat as necessary
