Proper Steps:

Standing with strong posture, wield a DB in each hand with your arms bent at 90 degrees and your palms facing inward
Perform a lateral raise on one side until your arms are parallel with the floor, and control its return to the starting position
The DB should travel in an arc throughout this movement
Keep any torso sway to a minimum
