Proper Steps:

Grip the center of a barbell with one hand, palm facing inward 
Hold the BB above one shoulder with your elbow tucked underneath your wrist, so that your posture is perpendicular to the bar 
Press the BB upward until your bicep is beside your ear 
Return the BB to the starting position with control
