Proper Steps:

Begin in an athletic hip-width stance, with your hips back and your weight over the balls of your feet 
Arms should be bent at 90 degrees, with your elbows at your sides – arm movement is small, kind of like you’re drumming on your thighs 
Move backwards in short, low, choppy steps by pushing off your lead foot and reaching with your rear foot
