Proper Steps:

See ‘Lateral lunge’ for lunge technique 
Step to one side, and perform a lateral lunge over both legs before resetting in the direction you are traveling 
Continue for the desired amount of repetitions, or desired distance 
Repeat symmetrically in both directions
