Proper Steps:

Begin by performing a high – knee marching action 
Travel laterally by skipping once off the ball of your trail foot, as you drive upwards with the lead knee 
Foot strike from the trail leg should be powerful, land below the hips, and launch your body forward 
Arm swing should resemble that of a sprint, with hand movement from “cheek to cheek” 
Minimize upward bounce of the torso and hips
Aim to perform as many skips as can be done properly
