Proper Steps:

Assume a Half-Kneeling Position with a staff held vertically in the inside hand at the cross section between the rear hip and big toe of the lead foot
Grip the staff as high as you can, and drive it down into the floor
With a vertically aligned spine, pass your free arm behind the staff and wedge it behind your shoulder
Drive your upper armpit down towards the floor and feel a stretch in your pec, shoulder, and arm
