Proper Steps:

Wield the staff upright in your hand with more length on the thumb side
Point your elbow forward at shoulder height, and let the staff hang over the outside of your upper arm
Maintaining a vertically upright spine with your ribcage tucked downward, grab the bottom of the staff with your free arm and leverage your other shoulder into external rotation
