Proper Steps:

Begin lying on your side with a vertically aligned spine, and your top knee bent and driving down against a fixed object like: a foam roller, your other knee, etc.
Start with both hands stacked at shoulder height
Open your arms like a book, touching the top arm (and shoulder) to the floor before pointing the bottom hand at the ceiling
Reverse the motion and repeat evenly on both sides as desired or prescribed
