Proper Steps:

Begin in a deep squat or ‘ape posture’ with one leg extended out front
Place your hand down outside the hip of your extended leg
Shift your weight onto your hand, and the ball of your extended leg’s foot as you spin toward the extended knee until you return to the starting position
Perform a ‘side switch’ before repeating on the other side
