Camp Weekly Themes

Blast from the Past: June 18-22

In our first week at camp we will be focusing on how fun fitness can be with fitness activities from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. The UREC fitness department will be helping campers learn about being active and the fun side of fitness. The fitness regimen will consist of a variety of cross training, sports conditioning, yoga, Zumba, and aquatic sessions, as well as a nutrition workshop to learn about how food can make us stronger. Campers will also work with our personal trainers to get themselves ready to take on the Cougar obstacle course at the end of the week.

Nature Unleashed: June 25-29

Lions, tigers, and campers…oh my! In our second week at camp, we are heading outside as Cougar Kids Camp partners with our Outdoor Programs for the opportunity to explore the outdoor world in a fun and safe environment. Campers will learn about Leave No Trace principles, campsite setup, compass and map navigation, and more. To cap off the week we will take the campers on a hike facilitated by our Adventure Program staff. Don’t forget about our first overnight experience, campers entering grades 3-6 can register for a camping adventure as we turn South Fairway into our very own camping resort!

It’s a bird….it’s a plane…..it’s Super Cougs!! Come celebrate week three with us as we celebrate our nation’s birthday and celebrate our favorite super heroes and heroes throughout our community. Though we will not be at camp Wednesday, in observance of the Fourth of July, camp is still going to be jam-packed with our favorite activities. We will spend plenty of time in the pool and at the climbing wall, along with playing our favorite camp games. CKC will also welcome our local Firefighters & ROTC to camp for some fun activities this week. *Registration fee is discounted this week. There will be no camp on Wednesday, July 4.*

Mini Cougar: July 9-13

GO…COUGS!! This week we send our campers to college! No need to worry about exams or tests, we will be trading course work for the lighter side of being a Cougar. From a trip to Ferdinand’s, exploring the sights on-campus, and meeting some Cougar athletes, our campers are sure to make the grade this week. Don’t forget about our second overnight experience, campers entering grades 3-6 can register for our overnight adventure of the summer where campers will get to spend a night in a residence hall!

Campers will play fun games and problem solving activities while learning life skills for the future. At the end of the week campers have the option to participate in the ropes course here at the SRC and show their Cougar growth. To end the week we will have our last overnight adventure where campers of any age can stay a night at the SRC!!

Pirates on the Palouse: July 23-27

Ahoy campers, Pirate Week is back! During our sixth week at camp we’ll be setting off for adventures typical of the seven seas. We’ll enjoy the swashbuckling pirate times and search for hidden treasures. Get ready to brave the tides of the SRC pool, climb the masts on the SRC climbing wall, and even take on a pirate’s obstacle course. It will be all the fun of being a pirate, without having to swab the deck or walk the plank.
