Interested in participating in a fitness class?

A membership or a day/guest pass is required to participate in classes located at the Chinook and SRC. Please note that there is a SRC and FSFP member rate for Chinook classes, which only provides Chinook access to SRC/FSFP members 20 minutes prior to class to 20 minutes after. 

A Fitness punch card does not provide access to the SRC or Chinook for non-members.  Participants may gain access to facilities via membership, day/guest pass, or a facilities punch card.

Fitness Class Refund Policy

With receipt or proof of purchase, a full refund given within 6 days after the start of class, 50% refund within 13 days after the start of class.  No refund will be given after 13 days of the start of class. Additionally, to keep costs low, all classes are assessed for cancellation at the end of the first week of the session.  Participants in classes with low enrollment will be given the option of a full refund or transfer into another class.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Review Certification Course

This update course is to give currently certified lifeguards the opportunity to update skills to the newest American Red Cross Lifeguarding course content and renew certification. Successful participants will be re-certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid for 2 years. ***You will need to bring a copy of your current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification along with a valid government issued form of identification. These items will be verified by the instructor prior to the course start. We can not submit a course record for your renewed certification without verifying your current certification. Please use the Youth Registration to enroll participants who are under the age of 18. Payment for this course also provides you with a CPR mask which you will be able to keep at after this course. Prerequisite: *Minimum age of 15 before the last day of the scheduled class. *Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Participants may use front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. *Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds. *Tread water with hands under armpits for 2 minutes. Certification Requirements: Attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions and scenarios, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent. The practice sessions will require some strenuous physical activity. You are encouraged to check with your health-care professional before participating in the practice sessions. Fitness Swimming is a structured aquatic program, which is designed to challenge all participants no matter their swimming abilities. Fitness Swimming offers on-deck coaching, with workouts tailored to the group of swimmers participating. Each workout plan will be adapted to each individual swimmer, to help push, challenge and improve each participant’s personal goals. This program is perfect for those wanting to cross-train, improve swimming techniques, master skills, training for triathlons and more! University Recreation is now recognized as an official club by US Master's Swimming! You do not have to be a member of US Master's Swimming to participate in our practices. All of our Fitness Swimming classes are practice times but you must have purchased the Fitness Swimming class in order to be able to practice. Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites, however, all Fitness Swimming participant’s should be able to swim a length of 25 yards using freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke and be able to tread in deep water for at least 1 minute. Refund Policy: A full refund will be given within six days after the start of the class. A 50% refund will be given within seven to thirteen days after the start of the class. No refunds will be given after thirteen days after the start of the class. **Accessibility: Reasonable accommodations are available with adequate prior notification. Purchasing the CrossFit membership will allow you to attend an unlimited number of Washington State University CrossFit classes. A Chinook or SRC membership is required to purchase a CrossFit Pass. Pass holders may attend classes in facilities where they are members; SRC members may attend classes at Down Under, and Chinook members may attend classes at the Chinook. The CrossFit pass does not include membership or provide access to facilities for non-members. If you would like to participate in CrossFit for the entire Fall Semester, you will need to purchase the Cross Fit pass for both Session 1 (8/26-10/13) and Session 2 (10/14-12/6). Receive a $10 discount and FREE gift for purchasing both sessions online at checkout.
