Whether you are new to fitness and exercise or have been going to the gym for years and need help reaching new goals, taking that first step toward achieving those can be one of the hardest parts. This is where I come in by working with you to determine what would be best to help you reach your goals and become successful.

After battling through my own injuries that forced me to quit sports I loved, I found a new love and dedication for the gym. The core of my training philosophy is to move with a purpose. There is a stigma in the gym setting that a complicated and debilitating workout is best. I believe that this mentality is not only bad for the individual as it increases the risk for injury, but for the health and fitness world as well as it intimidates beginners and discourages those who aren’t already elite performers. I also believe in a holistic lifestyle approach that ties together nutrition, sleep, and stress management, with the enjoyable challenging workouts that we will be doing together.

Your goals are the easy part. Whether you want to lose body fat, build muscle, or perform better is just a matter of math. Sports have always been an integral part of my, and something I’ve been able to reliably keep interest in. Exercise has always been a supplement to my sport performance until recently, whereas I haven’t found the commitment for sports. However, when I return to activities I used to do or even new activities, I will have the skills needed to become better. These skills can also be used to make others better at physical activities they enjoy or just make daily tasks easier to perform. I’ve always been intrigued by the nature of athleticism and movement. “If I always do what I’ve always done, I’ll always be who I’ve always been”

From a young age I have always struggled with putting on muscle, often being bullied for being as skinny as I was. Knowing something had to be done, I looked to sports to open the door into health and fitness. I was a USA Junior Olympic Track and field athlete for three years, carrying into high school as a varsity athlete all 4 years. Among that, I trained in basketball, football, soccer and Muay Thai. After high school I enlisted in the US Navy and this led me down the path of bodybuilding and powerlifting; participating in numerous powerlifting competitions while deployed overseas. From that point on I knew it was my responsibility to help guide others who struggle with finding their place in the health and fitness community.

With my vast background in athletics and experience as a Command Fitness Leader while in the Navy, I know that I can aid you in finding your ultimate genetic potential; whether it be strength, fat loss or building jaw dropping confidence. With me as your personal trainer you will find a part of yourself unknown to you, and the world around you. My favorite part about fitness is that you are 100% in control of your success and growth. What you put in is what you will get out. I have been an athlete my entire life; playing sports since I was four years old, to running and lifting since I was 16 years old. Through my experience, I have put in the time and effort to see results. There is no hiding or faking fitness; it will show through the weight you lift, the muscles on your body, and your dedication and discipline to yourself and those around you. You do not need talent to lift weights, run, or participate in a sport. All you need is the right mindset and persistence to make it happen.
Through fitness, I have become a stronger and better version of myself and want to help others achieve the same goal. For the last seven years, I have found my passion through health, wellness, and fitness. I started my fitness journey University of Arizona, where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Nutrition. I worked at the U of A’s Campus Recreation for over three years, and in 2017 earned my ACE Personal Training Certification to further my knowledge in fitness, and to help other achieve their goals.
I now serve as the Graduate Assistant of Fitness at Washington State University. I help oversee the group fitness department at WSU, teach fitness classes, and personal train. Each new day is a new opportunity to improve yourself. Take it and make the most of it. I have been an athlete my whole life and I have played a wide variety of sports. Based on my experiences I have learned that doing the same variation of exercises is not a positive workout experience. There has been a stigma against working out; “it's just another thing to cross off my list of things to do”. I used to do this, I felt like I had to work out, almost like it was a chore. Once I started changing my workouts I started to looking forward to going to the gym. When I started liking my workouts I started seeing the results I was looking for. This is my personal goal for all my clients; getting them to enjoy working out.

I have worked in the WSU SRC Weight room for 2 years now and this experience motivated me to become a personal trainer. While I would walk around the Weight room patrons would come up to me and ask what exercise they should do to work a certain part of their body. After each time someone would ask me for help I started thinking more about becoming a personal trainer. I finally felt I had enough knowledge to become a personal trainer. I was nervous for the exam because I am a psychology major do not have the anatomy and physiology background. I am now certified in CPR, AED, first aid, and personal training. My goals are to help my clients with setting goals, teaching them how to work out on their own, and to enjoy going to the gym to work out!

We attend college to get a higher education, but why stop at our brains? Why not take it another step further and educate ourselves to better our bodies? Health and fitness is such an important aspect of life, not only does it improve our ways of living and our bodies but it is another opportunity for us to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. Fitness should not be something that we dread, but rather something we should take advantage of and look forward to. It is a chance for us to move our bodies, relieve stress, and to detach ourselves from our everyday tasks.
I remember my first experience in the weight room and how absolutely intimidated I was to step foot on the floor. All I could think about was how people were going to look at me and whether people would stare or think that I’m not doing something correctly. This is such a common fear amongst us and I want to help break that tension and that anxiety and make people feel comfortable in the weight room. Exercise and weight lifting has changed my life in such drastic ways. I have been passionate about exercise since I was little, and I have participated sports all my life. I interned at WSU Strength & Conditioning and worked under the head strength coaches to train the varsity athletes. I am also majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Strength & Conditioning, so I’ve learned A LOT about health and fitness.

This is my demeanor when it comes to fitness. Personally, being competitive is more of an internal battle with my own goals and doesn’t restrict me when it comes to enjoying my training. I stray from the mindset that you need to hustle 24/7 and shut people out of your life if you want to achieve your goals. My training philosophy leans more towards a balance of trial and error as well as understands the unpredictability of life. I encourage failure because I know it leads to long term growth. I know how daunting it is to walk into a gym with no idea of how to work any machine and how awkward it is to try out new equipment. I’ve even had moments where I wondered if I was even making any significant progress. But perseverance and experimentation of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to your physical and mental health is what I strive to improve for each person I work with.
In short, I want to help create a positive relationship for others when it comes to exercise. I want to help people discover their “why” or their purpose, for exercising before they even step into a gym. Fitness has played a major role in developing the person I am today. I grew an early interest in fitness and exercises because as a kid I grew up watching too many 80s action movies. I guess you can say exercise just grew on me. Nonetheless, as I grew older my curiosity only led me to explore and learn more. I remember going to the public library on summer days and checking out fitness and exercise books because I wanted to be “strong” and strong I was determined to be. That childhood dream has led me to eventually pursue a career exercise science and to learn way more than I was expecting to learn. Fitness is more than just good angles and good lighting. Enough about you, here's a little about me: My athletic obsession has been increasing since birth. Reckless games of touch football, basketball and hockey in the street kept me in shape for various sports such as soccer, softball, lacrosse, waterpolo, shotput and discus, as well as managing my high school football team. Realizing I couldn't ignore my passion of athletics I left the life of Italian restaurants to commit to the life of training and motivating others - it was a terrifying leap. I'm a 28-year-old junior at WSU studying psychology with Masters ambitions of sport psychology. Throughout high school I was a year-round athlete competing in baseball and wrestling throughout Western Washington. Being involved in two vastly different sports I had to learn to find ways to improve strength and speed for wrestling, while also improving balance, stability, and control for baseball. By accepting these challenges there will inevitably be barriers you must overcome. However, the barriers we overcome today will build character for us tomorrow. As your personal trainer, I will help you leap these hurdles. In addition, my ultimate goal is to make sure you reach a level of confidence and fitness knowledge that you will be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the future.

As an international student, I lived a very sedentary life in an environment where sport and fitness was not highly valued. Personally, I have experienced a lot of common setbacks through my journey of training, such as not getting the results I wanted, exhaustion in training, injury, and many other impediments that I had to overcome.
