Donahoo, Curtis

“You can’t do amazing stuff with mediocre people”. This quote shows the reason I wanted to get into personal training, I want to help awesome people do amazing things in their life. Whatever goal you want to achieve, I want to be there beside you helping. Being physically active can be hard, but the rewards are worth the dedication.

My fitness journey started when I was a freshman in high school and I was the classic overweight shy kid. I didn’t have that many friends and lacked confidence to thrive in school. So me and one of my friends decided to start lifting weights in my basement, and a new world was opened to my eyes. I stated feeling more confident and started to see result. I stuck with it and ended up losing 30 pounds and gained a lot of confidence. This forever changed my life and I still lift and exercise so that I can feel my best day in and day out. I even went to school for it and studied Kinesiology and working toward my masters in Kinesiology as well. I promise you I can help you achieve your goals, I am here to serve you.

Ha, Nouci

Being able to take the initial steps to push yourself towards a healthier lifestyle can be quite intimidating, especially that first step into the gym but you are not alone. Everyone starts somewhere and it can definitely be frightening for the first few times. However, anyone can start exercising and nothing should stop you on your journey to obtain your goals. The fact that you started looking here means that you have a goal in mind, and I want to be the person that will assist with you accomplishing it. My goal is to create a safe space for you to push yourself to the best of your ability. I hope to help you feel comfortable and confident in yourself as you learn to find joy and appreciation for each workout. I understand that everyone is different and require customized support, empowerment, and education. Your program will be custom made according to your goals, aspirations, and needs in a way that works best for you.

My passion for training started with my high school wrestling career where I learned how to hone in my own power and take ownership of my body. It is almost liberating to feel in control of your body, and I want to be able spread that sense of power to others. I hope to help you take control and to help you build your own sense of empowerment. With a push in the right direction, I know you can achieve anything.

Hanon, Amanda

My fitness lifestyle started when I picked up long distance running for a couple years after I graduated high school, and I even completed a few half marathons. Running helped me appreciate my body’s abilities and significantly decreased my asthma symptoms by helping increase my respiratory capacity. I was learning what my body could actually do, and I wanted more! Once I started transitioning to weight training I actually had push back from a lot people around me because it wasn’t conventionally “feminine”. I persisted many different and challenging times. Being able to feel strong and capable on a daily basis by your own hand is an incredible feeling, and I wasn’t about to give that up for anything. Once I fully realized how passionate I had become about weight training I decided I wanted to help others find their niche and experience their own successes.
All this to say, don’t let anything get in your way, including yourself. I used to do that. I kept myself from going after what I wanted and reaching my potential because I didn’t want to feel dumb, feel like a beginner, or because of the way people might look at me. With diligence, I’ve gotten away from those habits. I want you to be free from those challenges too! We all start somewhere and you deserve better than mediocracy. I also learned over time that fitness is not a body type, it’s a way of life. Finding a form of physical fitness that you enjoy, keeps you healthy, and that you will stick with is so important. I’ll help you find that passion that aligns with your goals. I’m here for YOU. I want to help you succeed and be your biggest fan.
“I live a life of leisure and lift heavy weight, balance is not something you find, but something you create.” -me

The amount of athletic experience I have will help me coach you to being the best you will be, but it will not be able to help you make the first step. Sometimes all we can do is start. Figuring out what you need to do to get better is hard. So let me do it for you. After we take that first step to start, the hardest part is done. I will handle all of the programming your workouts for maximum effect, keeping track of your progress, helping you every step of the way, keeping you accountable, and pushing you to be the best person you can be. All you have to do is take the first step to meeting with me! If we are not a good fit, and I think you would be best with another trainer, I will let you know, and connect you with them!

I absolutely love the gym. It is my greatest treasure to help others feel the same confidence I have gained and find that feeling of belonging in their gym space. I used to be so timid in the gym. Before I fell in love with lifting and working out in high school, I had never lifted before, afraid of getting unwanted results and feeling like I had failed. I took the chance and found that being strong was so empowering. Exercising and lifting has given me so much confidence not only in the gym but in my life, and as a coach and trainer. I coached youth volleyball in high school, and now I am in the WSU Bohler Gym coaching the college athletes. I never thought I would have the confidence to be in a room full of buff men telling them what to do and speaking loudly because I knew what I was talking about. Lifting gave me that confidence, getting healthy and strong has changed my life. Let me help you change yours!

Nyberg, Drew

It’s easy to let your physical health and fitness hit the back-burners in life. Let me help you stay focused and on track by working with you to develop goals and stick to them. Together, we can make the process of living a healthier lifestyle more enjoyable and easier for you. I will take care of things like program design, progress monitoring, and proper demonstration. That leaves you only two things that I need you to bring to our sessions, great effort and the desire to improve.

Growing up participating in a wide variety of sports taught me that extraordinary attitude and amazing effort are key in accomplishing whatever goals you may have. These two qualities are two things that you can expect from me in every session as your personal trainer. No matter what your fitness goals may be, helping you identify and reach those goals in a safe and effective way is my number one priority.

Ojeda, Bridgette

Self-efficacy is absolutely key to reach your goals and your potential. First, you may have to search in order to discover what else you want out of life, then, you must own it and make a plan to execute and accomplish whatever you set out to do—but first and foremost, you will need self-efficacy to do this. You must fully believe that you have the capability to effectively and consistently engage in the tasks that are needed to attain your desired outcome. As your trainer I will provide the tools you need to accomplish your fitness and health goals. With my educational and emotional support and your discipline, we can work together to get a whole lot closer to your potential. I will challenge your weaknesses because that is how you grow. Often, we get stuck in our comfort zone but every time we step out of it and try something new, we learn and expand our range of skills and self-knowledge.

My passion as a trainer is to help individuals change their lives in order for them to be happy with themselves inside and out. My passion goes beyond helping individuals look the best they ever have— my goal is to improve their mindset, motivation, and lifestyle in a positive way to help them become the happiest and healthiest versions of themselves. I spent years going up and down in weight and struggling with food issues. I lacked confidence and felt like I would never find balance. Surrounding myself with the right people and educating myself on healthier lifestyle choices free of restricting, binging, and overexercising, I was finally able to find more balance and inner peace. I found the motivation I needed in order to inspire others to do the same. I had to look inward to acknowledge my unhealthy habits and shift my mindset. As your trainer I am confident I can facilitate your journey to improve different aspects of your life, but at the end of the day, it is important to note that, it is your own discipline and efforts that will pay off. The only person that truly knows how much effort we are putting into something we want is ourselves and only we truly know if we gave it our all to live up to our potential.

Rojas, Eduardo "Eddie"

Hey Everyone! My name is Eddie Rojas and I cant tell you how much I am looking forward to helping you achieve your goals. When I first got into fitness, I felt so lost an overwhelmed with how much information there was about it that I didn’t even know where to start. Through many years of trial and error I was finally able to figure out my calling in life. I figured out I want to study kinesiology in order to become both a personal trainer and a physical therapist. I want to show you how life changing fitness really is and how you can reap the benefits from it. Sometimes fitness can be overwhelming because of so many styles of working out, dieting, warming-up, cooling-down, and so many other things but I am here to make sure that I make an individualized plan that specific for YOU.
A little bit about myself is that I was originally born in Lima, Peru and lived there for 8 years before I moved to Washington. I am fluent in Spanish so I can go back and forth between both English and Spanish if that I something that you need! I am currently studying kinesiology and aspire to become a physical therapist down the road. I started lifting when I was in 8th grade and have plaid football, wrestled, and ran track all of my years in high school. This has shaped me to have a love and a deep passion for anything fitness. Lets get started!

Capable:  A word describing your potential level of accomplishment.  You are capable of accomplishing your fitness goals.  However, no one is entitled to reach those goals without diligence and hard work.  I want to lead you on the path of success, but at the end of the day, all I really am doing is nudging you along.  Your path to success will either be shorter or longer depending on how much effort you put into training, lifestyle, and diet.  I will help you design a well thought out, flexible, program accounting for your individual needs and fitness goals.  There are so many accomplishments and experiences waiting for you.  Place your trust in me and we can get on the path together!

Becoming a personal trainer has helped me be a better coach, leader, and educator with an evolving skillset.  I want as many people as possible to experience the feelings of success and goal achievement in fitness.  Without the role models I had growing up, I probably would not be here today, standing tall, knowing that through proper coaching comes tangible results.  Due to amazing influences and a whole lot of hard work, I have achieved excellence in sports and academics.  I expect positive results and encourage you to expect the same when you invest in yourself.  You are capable.

Shafer, Olivia (Online Only)

It's not hard to start, and tomorrow won't wait. The body you desire and lifestyle you admire are available to you NOW, and it's as simple as taking the first step. Literally. Start moving. We've all been in that funk of wanting to be fit but not knowing how to get there, or worse, feeling those first-year pounds adding up. Let me shine some light into your life - I'll do all the thinking, you just show up. You see? Simple.
Enough about you, here's a little about me: My athletic obsession has been increasing since birth. Reckless games of touch football, basketball and hockey in the street kept me in shape for various sports such as soccer, softball, lacrosse, waterpolo, shotput and discus, as well as managing my high school football team. Realizing I couldn't ignore my passion of athletics I left the life of Italian restaurants to commit to the life of training and motivating others - it was a terrifying leap. I've been gifted mentors since I started following my passion who have taught me better discipline, the importance of goal setting, and how taking the first step usually comes before believing in yourself. I'm a 28-year-old junior at WSU studying psychology with Masters ambitions of sport psychology. My years as an athlete and trainer, paired with my studies, puts me in a unique position of compassion mixed with drive - I'll fight for your well-being if you're willing to do the same.

Sitio, Cesar

Hey everyone! I’m glad you’re all here and striving to find ways to take the first step to personal health and improvements. When I first started my fitness journey, the biggest thing I remember struggling with was confidence in myself and my abilities to succeed. My passion for finding confidence in training started in high school wrestling where, as a freshman, all I wanted was to be great. I learned to set goals and how to focus and strive for these goals with dedication and persistence. In the gym I felt out of place and uncomfortable when I first started, and I even quit the first time I attempted to start, but that’s ok! We all start somewhere, and we aren’t alone in our struggles to reach personal excellence. Through the pursuit of personal excellence in the gym, my confidence and self-image grew immensely, where I began to trust in my own abilities in all aspects of life. After seeing what sports and fitness did for me, I knew that going into college I wanted to study in the medical and health field to work with people and helping them grow in their positive self-image and confidence to achieve any goal that they may lay ahead of themselves.

Getting started can feel like a lot of pressure with so many facts, do’s, don’ts, warm-up, cool down, and everything in between. It can be a challenge (and an intimidating one) sometimes, but I’m here to help you see your potential and your strength to accomplish any goal you have with hard work and some dedication. Looking for someone to help you and who understands where you’re starting from is an excellent first step, and I’m here to take the following steps right along with you. It’s time to rise above these barriers trying to hold you back and to embrace the struggle that builds you stronger. “The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step” – Lao Tsu. Are you ready for the first step? Great, then let's get started.

Skoromnaya, Liza (Online Only)

One of the most amazing things about fitness is it can be done anywhere. Furthermore, it’s free! It doesn’t matter if you are new to working out, looking for some guidance, or you are just trying to achieve a goal; everyone starts somewhere. Together, we can work on creating something that works for you, and helps you reach your full potential. Additionally, as a kinesiology student I will be able to build you a personalized program utilizing the fundamental principles of exercise physiology. With this skill set, I am confident we can achieve your goals.
I grew up struggling with being over weight and not knowing what to do about it. No one in my family worked out, so I had no help. When I got older, I decided to take my health into my own hands and do something about my situation. I started boxing and working out, which was so hard because I didn’t know what I was doing. I met some amazing people who coached me, trained me, and helped me grow and progress in my fitness journey. Since then I have lost weight and fell in love with a healthy life style that allows me to feel confident and proud. Just like the people who came into my life, I want to be able to give back to the people who are looking for someone who can help them achieve their goals.

Turner, Devon

You only have one body, only one vessel to navigate the world. With hard work, discipline, and a love for the grind you can achieve a body, and mind that can conquer any obstacles that life or the world throws at you. But, like most things worth having it takes effort, and strong will to get. While working together, we can direct your hard work, and will overcome in a way to most efficiently reach any goal that you set for yourself.
Growing up playing sports, I always had a love for physical activity and fitness. Although it took arriving at college where that love for fitness became a passion for a healthy lifestyle and achieving goals that I set for myself. After transferring to Washington State University, I found that I don’t only love reaching my own goals but also helping others achieve their own fitness dreams. While putting in the work to reach your goals you learn how to fight adversity and what it feels like to achieve a goal that you set for yourself, these are massively important lessons that can help you throughout your life.

Wakaba, Ben

“To attract better, you have to become better yourself. You can’t do the same things and expect change.” This is my philosophy towards fitness and all aspects of life. Fitness not only helps you physically, but it can greatly help improve your mood and lifestyle. It can also help you reach goals you thought were unattainable. With my help, I can help you reach your fitness goals while answering questions and concerns. With my major in Kinesiology and minor in Strength and conditioning, I am well equipped for programming an exercise plan specifically for you.

Growing up I was overweight, but I wanted to change but I never took time to exercise. Once I got to WSU I had access to a full gym and began taking my health seriously with exercise. At first, I had no idea what I was doing and just went through the motions exercising when I felt like it and not working towards a specific goal. I finally met someone who was able to guide me in the right direction towards fitness and help me feel good about the way I look. I was able to lose 20 pounds while also gaining muscle. I want to be able to provide you with the same support that I received and help you reach your goals.

Xiaerzhate, Ai Li Ti "Shirzat"

When it comes to training, too many people exercise blindly and think there are “shortcuts” to achieve fitness goals.  Additionally, in order to achieve a healthier lifestyle, along with dedication and self-control, there is a big component that the majority of population is missing out – fitness knowledge.  Do not fall prey to the false shortcuts.  Rather, seek adversity and challenges that will catalyze a healthier you.

By accepting these challenges there will inevitably be barriers you must overcome. However, the barriers we overcome today will build character for us tomorrow. As your personal trainer, I will help you leap these hurdles. In addition, my ultimate goal is to make sure you reach a level of confidence and fitness knowledge that you will be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the future.

As an international student, I lived a very sedentary life in an environment where sport and fitness was not highly valued. Personally, I have experienced a lot of common setbacks through my journey of training, such as not getting the results I wanted, exhaustion in training, injury, and many other impediments that I had to overcome. I know it is hard, but as your personal trainer I will be able to help you navigate any barrier you encounter.  Together we can reach any fitness goal you set for yourself.
