Did you know that one of the greatest waterfalls in the Northwest is less than 90 miles away? The Palouse River plummets 185 feet into the river's canyon. Several miles before the falls, the Palouse River meets the dammed Snake River which creates a lake of flat water that is great for paddling. We will paddle in sea kayaks up the Palouse River and back. This is a perfect opportunity for you to practice and perfect your kayaking paddling and strokes. After paddling the river, we will drive to the Palouse Falls County Park where you will view the breathtaking Palouse Falls. There are limited spots, so sign up today! Trip rating is level 2 and is a full day paddle trip. Trip cost includes: kayak rental, paddle equipment, and a trip leader (Food is NOT included, so bring snacks, a lunch, and water). Depending on what phase of recovery the state and county is in, we may or may not be able to provide transportation to the site. Please plan for providing your own transportation to Lyons Ferry State Park. We will let you know what our plan is after registration has closed. Face coverings will be required to be carried with you for when social distancing cannot be maintained. You can either bring your own, or we can provide one for you. Cancellation Policy: In order to minimize our environmental impact, maintain facilitator-to-participant ratios, meet permit criteria, and equipment transportation logistics, ORC trips are often programmed for small groups (typically up to 6 participants with 2 facilitators). Late cancellations can seriously impact our ability to accommodate others and recover costs. • Cancellations made up until 4 weeks prior to the registration deadline will receive a full refund. • Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the registration deadline receive 50% refund. • Sorry, no refunds are given past the registration deadline. As a general reminder, we’ll be continuing to maintain social distancing and hygiene standards recommended by the CDC. If you are showing any symptoms of Covid-19 we cannot have you participating in this program. Please let us know if you are, as you will receive a full refund. If you need to cancel, please contact orc@wsu.edu. Participants may not be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs during an ORC activity. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted in WSU vehicles/vessels or at campsites (or other accommodations) at any time. Depending on the severity of infraction of rules and policies, a range of disciplinary actions may take place from a verbal warning to removal from activity, contacting local authorities, and the office of student conduct.
