Description

Come experience a kayak tour on the scenic Snake River this weekend for a perfect opportunity to learn the sport of kayak touring. You’ll start with an on-campus pool session to learn necessary boat exit and rescue techniques. Once you have learned the necessary skills you will get the opportunity to test those skills down on the Snake River. At the Snake, we will teach you how to prepare and load your kayak before we embark on an overnight tour. Sign up fast before this trip fills up! Trip rating is level 2. No kayaking experience necessary. Good physical conditioning is necessary. Trip cost includes; group gear, camping equipment, kayaking gear, transportation, permits, and trip facilitators. Food and clothing is NOT provided. There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on April 18th, at the Outdoor Recreation Center from 6:00-11:00pm. At this meeting you will meet your fellow trip participants and trip leaders, see the trip itinerary, and you will have the opportunity to check out group gear and camping equipment. Cancellation Policy: In order to minimize our environmental impact, maintain facilitator-to-participant ratios, meet permit criteria, and transportation logistics, ORC trips are often programmed for small groups (typically up to 6 participants with 2 facilitators). Late cancellations can seriously impact our ability to accommodate others and recover costs. • Cancellations made up until 4 weeks prior to the registration deadline will receive a full refund. • Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the registration deadline receive 50% refund. • Sorry, no refunds are given past the registration deadline. If you need to cancel, please email orc@wsu.edu. Participants may not be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs during an ORC activity. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted in WSU vehicles/vessels or at campsites (or other accommodations) at any time. Depending on the severity of infraction of rules and policies, a range of disciplinary actions may take place from a verbal warning to removal from activity, contacting local authorities, and the office of student conduct. The Outdoor Recreation Center programs have a minimum participation required for each trip. If the trip or clinic does not have enough participants or faces hazardous weather conditions, the program may be cancelled or subject to change at the discretion of the ORC Coordinator.
