    Course Description

    Interested in becoming a lifeguard? Take this American Red Cross certification course now! This course teaches the duties, responsibilities, and skills necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Successful participants will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid.

    Youth participants, under the age of 18, must complete the Youth Registration for this course.

    Prerequisites
    - minimum age of 15 on or before the last day of the scheduled class
    - swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Participants may use front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
    - starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
    - tread water with hands under armpits for 2 minutes

    Course Description

    This update course gives currently certified lifeguards or lifeguards with a certification that has been expired for no more than 30 days the opportunity to update skills to the newest American Red Cross Lifeguarding course content and renew certification. Successful participants will be re-certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid for 2 years.

    Please use the Youth Registration to enroll participants who are under the age of 18.
