3/14-3/23 Spring Break Eco Adventure: Red Rock Desert Climbing
Eco Adventures, the cross-roads of outdoor recreation and civic engagement, provide participants with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural world, foster a deeper connection with the land, and develop a sense of place.
Join the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and The Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) for the Southwest Desert Climbing Eco Adventure trip. Spend a week surrounded by gorgeous cliffs where we will be rock climbing, camping out every night, and doing community service! After hard work of trail maintenance, students will be rewarded with a few days of climbing!
Students will learn techniques for applying their basic rock climbing skills in the beauty of the desert. If you would like your service hours recorded for your class, resume, or personal record the Center for Civic Engagement has an online database for your convenience. There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting on March 5th at 6:00 pm in the Outdoor Recreation Center lobby. Trip rating is level 2. All health forms must be completed/submitted by the registration deadline.
After participation in this Eco-Adventure patrons will be able to see the rewards of their service to the land and will receive a green Eco-Adventure bandana. Students will learn about basic climbing techniques such as belaying, knot tying, climbing movement, and more! The ORC will provide all necessary rock climbing gear including harness, helmet, and shoes. Students will need to provide their own personal gear and food.
Cancelation Policy:
In order to minimize our environmental impact, maintain facilitator-to-participant ratios, meet permit criteria, and transportation logistics, ORC programs are designed for small groups (typically up to 6 participants with 2 facilitators). Late cancellations can seriously impact our ability to accommodate others and recover costs.
• Cancellations made up until 2 weeks prior to the registration deadline will receive a full refund.
• Cancellations made within 2 weeks prior to the registration deadline receive 50% refund.
• Sorry, no refunds are given past the registration deadline.
All health forms must be completed/ submitted by the registration deadline.
