American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

Interested in becoming a lifeguard? Take this American Red Cross certification course now! This course teaches the duties, responsibilities and skills necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Successful participants will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. .

Prerequisite

*Minimum age of 15

*Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Participants may use front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
*Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
*Tread water with hands under armpits for 2 minutes.

*Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a minimum depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to surface, and swim back to starting point with the object. When returning to the starting point, you must hold the 10 lb. object with both hands and keep your face above water.

*Tread water with hands under armpits for 2 minutes.
