09/02/2011 Labor Day Weekend Kayak & Camp: Priest Lake
Join us Labor Day Weekend for a scenic, stress reducing, paddling and camping adventure at Upper Priest Lake. This trip is an excellent introduction to sea kayaking and camping. Novice and experienced sea kayakers alike cannot help but enjoy the calming waters of picturesque Priest Lake. This Outdoor Recreation Center course, which meets This trip is a great experience for those looking for comprehensive training at the beginner level. This 3-day course includes the kayak and all equipment needed for the day. The following skills are taught during this course, which is held on calm, protected water.
• Lifting, Carrying, Launching and Landing
• Efficient Forward Paddling
• Reverse Paddling and Stopping
• Moving the Kayak Sideways
• Preventing Capsize
• Bracing
• Turning
• Deep Water Assisted and Self-Rescue
Upper Priest Lake is a great destination for any paddler, as the water is restricted to engine powered boats, and no development can occur along its shoreline. This trip is a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. No experience is required and all necessary equipment is provided. Trip rating is level 2. The Pre Trip Meeting is on Tuesday, August 30, 2010 at 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Outdoor Recreation Center.
Trip rating is level 2. No experience necessary! Trip cost includes: transportation, sea kayaking equipment, and trip leader (Food NOT included). All health forms must be completed/submitted by the registration deadline. Please remember, if you are unable to attend this trip for any reason we will NOT be providing refunds after the registration deadline. Cancellations made up until two weeks prior to registration deadline will receive a full refund. Cancellations made prior to registration deadline receive 50% refund. No refunds are given past the registration deadline.
