Palouse Throwdown

The 5th annual Palouse Throwdown will take place on Saturday, October 6th. We will once again be hosting the event at the Chinook Student Center in the heart of the WSU campus with both scaled and Rx divisions!

Don't have a partner? No worries, select Free Agent when registering and we will set you up with someone else who is also looking for a partner in the same division. 

Teams will be same-sex pairs. When registering, you will be designated as the 'team captain' and your partner will not need to register. For all registrations, a UREC account is necessary, which is easily created if you are not a WSU student, faculty or staff.

Cost is $60 for each two-person team and $65 for non-members of the Chinook or SRC. Cost of registration includes event t-shirts! You will be guaranteed at least 3 events, with the top teams competing in more events.

EVENT # 1

"FIGHT GONE BAD"

This is a classic benchmark CrossFit workout. Each partner will perform the workout, and their totals will be added together for a team total.

Fight Gone Bad is 3 rounds, 1 minute max reps per station of:

  • Wall Balls (20/14lb, 10/9ft, scaled 14/10lb, 10/9ft)
  • Sumo Deadlift High Pull (75/55lb, scaled 65/45lb)
  • Box Jump/Step Up (20 inch box)
  • Push Press (75/55lb, scaled 65/45lb)
  • Row Cals
  • Rest

 

EVENT # 2

"THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY"

This workout is a 12 minute AMRAP. Teams must complete the required amount of work before moving on to the next section.

  • 30 alternating cleans (135/95, scaled 95/65). Partners must alternate repetitions
  • 200 double unders (scaled, 300 single unders). These can be split between team members however they choose, with only 1 athlete working at a time
  • 20 alternating cleans (185/135, scaled 115/75)
  • 200 double unders (scaled, 300 single unders)
  • AMRAP alternating cleans (225/155, scaled 135/85). If teams make it to this barbell, they will perform as many reps as possible until the 12 minutes expires.

 

EVENT # 3

"A RELAXING BIKE RIDE"

For this workout, partners will alternate work every 2 minutes and will continue to alternate for as long as possible, until the amount of work required is not completed in their 2 minute time frame. The movements in this workout are Assault Bike Calories and Burpee Box Jump Overs.

  • Men's Teams will begin at 10 reps for each movement, and add 2 reps every 4 minutes
  • Women's Teams begin at 8 reps for each movement, and add 1 rep every 4 minutes
  • Burpee box jumps can either be lateral, or facing the box. Both feet must touch the top of the box for the box jumps, and chest and thighs must touch the ground for burpees. Step ups are allowed.
