You can help set the next route!

While you don’t need to be a advanced climber to set at the University Recreation Climbing Wall, you do need some experience climbing before you come to set routes.  A basic understanding of climbing flow and movement as well as grading systems is highly recommended.  In order to route set, you must attend a route setting clinic with the climbing wall staff.

We change our routes twice per week.

Once you complete a Route Setting Clinic you can drop in to help us change our routes. Route setting occurs on Wednesdays (8:00-10:30 p.m.) and Sundays (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.). The Lead Route Setter will work with you to set a route and guide you on how to grow as a setter.

Register for a Route Setting Clinic:

Clinics are held the first weekend of every month:

  • The first Saturday of every month, you can join us for a bouldering clinic. To attend this clinic we ask you register online, and hold at least 1 month of climbing experience.
  • The first Sunday of every month, you can join us for a top rope setting clinic. To attend this clinic we ask you have attended our boulder-setting clinic, and have a current WSU belay qualification.
