Class Dates: April 14 2023 - April 16 2023Course Description
Interested in becoming a lifeguard? Take this American Red Cross certification course now! This course teaches the duties, responsibilities, and skills necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Successful participants will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid.
Youth participants, under the age of 18, must complete the Youth Registration for this course.
If you are a lifeguard supervisor signing up an employee please be sure to contact Jared Lindorfer at jared.lindorfer@wsu.edu or 509-335-5407 so that you get all the details you need.
Prerequisites - minimum age of 15 on or before the last day of the scheduled class - swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Participants may use front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. - starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds. - tread water with hands under armpits for 2 minutes Lifeguarding Certification Course (Youth Registration)SRC Member: $225.00 Chinook Member: $225.00 Non-Member: $225.00

Class Dates: April 23 2023Course Description
This update course gives currently certified lifeguards or lifeguards with a certification that has been expired for no more than 30 days the opportunity to update skills to the newest American Red Cross Lifeguarding course content and renew certification. Successful participants will be re-certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid for 2 years.
Please use the Youth Registration to enroll participants who are under the age of 18.

Class Dates: April 22 2023Are you currently a swim coach or interested in becoming one? Take the American Red Cross Certification course now through UREC at Washington State University! This course teaches those involved in competitive swimming how to help maintain a comfortable and safe environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land.
Most participants will be taking the course to satisfy the coaching requirements required by a national governing body, such as USA Swimming. Participants may represent a broad range of backgrounds and differ in levels of education and experience. They may be taking the course to fulfill employment requirements, to complete requirements for a major area of study or certification, or for personal satisfaction.
