UREC Funding
University Recreation is a cornerstone of student health and well-being. We enhance the WSU student experience through spaces and programs that support wellness, community, and connection.
UREC facilities are some of the busiest spaces on campus: all told, the SRC, Chinook, and Stephenson Fitness Center get close to 800,000 visits each year! In our 254,003 square feet of student-centered space, we support 60+ intramural activities, 32 sport clubs, 140 hours of fitness class programming per week, 70+ outdoor classes and trips each year, and much more.
In a recent survey, 83% of students who participate in our programs, services, and facilities said they believe that University Recreation has made a valuable contribution to their WSU experience.
We support these spaces and programs through an annual operating budget of approximately $8.6 million. This funding comes from a combination of student fees, university support, memberships, rentals, and program registrations.
