5v5 Basketball is a fast-paced, team-oriented version of the classic game that emphasizes shooting, ball handling, defense, rebounding, and teamwork. Teams compete with five players on the court and play full-court games in a competitive environment. This league is ideal for participants looking to showcase their skills, work together as a team, and compete against some of the best intramural basketball players on campus.

League Scheduling

• Leagues schedules will be released the Friday prior to the start day of the Intramurals session (Sunday). You can access registration information by clicking here to visit the Intramurals DSE Dashboard.

• Elite leagues will have 4 weeks of pool play ( 2 games per week) and 2 weeks of playoffs. A Leagues will have 4 weeks of pool play (1 game per week) followed by 2 weeks of playoffs. B Leagues will compete in 6 weeks of pool play with 1 game per week. 

Leagues schedules will be released the Friday prior to the start day of the intramurals session (Sunday). Winner of Elite/A League playoffs will receive Intramural champ shirts.

Playoff Information

Teams are eligible for playoffs by having a sportsmanship rating of 2.25 or higher. Sportsmanship rating can be impacted by a team/fans sportsmanship before/during/after games or by forfeits. If a team has 2 forfeits, they are automatically removed from the league and ineligible for playoffs. Teams will no longer be able to add players to their team roster unless they reach out to the sport coordinator after playoffs begin.

Eligibility

Patrons are eligible to participate if they are currently enrolled students, are a faculty/staff UREC member, Spouse/Partner of UREC member (must reach out to sport coordinator) and have purchased the intramural pass. Varsity athletes must be removed from their sport for one year before being eligible to participate in their respective sport (ex: football and flag football, basketball and basketball, etc) Professional athletes are not eligible to participate. Club members are eligible to participate, but are allowed only two members on their team when playing a sport with 6 or more players on the field, and only one when playing a sport with 5 or fewer players on the field. This limit applies only to their specific related sport (a club soccer player on an intramural soccer team).

All students must show valid Cougar Card/Get App prior to each game

Teams compete with nine players on the field, creating a game that balances open space with tactical play. This league is perfect for participants seeking a competitive soccer experience while testing their skills against top intramural teams on campus.

This league offers a recreational yet competitive environment where participants can enjoy America's pastime in a unique and fast-paced format.

This doubles format is ideal for participants looking to challenge themselves in one of the most popular and engaging recreational sports.
