UREC for All: Our Commitment 

We commit to empowering our students and community members to succeed through equitable support and engaging programming. We foster an inclusive climate that enables all to thrive

We welcome everyone to participate in our group fitness classes. Our program provides diverse opportunities to the WSU community through over 180 classes per week in 45 unique formats. We train our instructors to ensure equitable, positive experiences that fit various exercise needs and incorporate all fitness levels and experiences.

University Recreation values providing programs and activities that are accessible. We are offering FREE fitness classes throughout the week! Please note that not all Spring 2021 Session 2 classes will occur during Sweat the Stress. No reservations or registration needed; first come, first served based on capacity limits.

SUMMER SESSION 1: MAY 10-JUNE 20

*There will be no classes on May 31 (Memorial Day).

All in-person classes, except Taekwondo, are open only to students and members at this time. Registration is open until May 21 here.

We will be offering FREE fitness classes varying in format every Friday, starting May 14. Prior registration per patron is required at the bottom of this page.

SUMMER SESSION 2: JUNE 21-AUGUST 1

*There will be no classes on July 4 (Independence Day) and August 1 (SRC Closed Week). Classes will still happen on July 3 and 5.

SUMMER SESSION 3: AUGUST 2-15

Gain access to all in-person classes with the GROUP FITNESS PASS for $15! Click here to purchase a Session 3 Fitness Pass. Please note Session 3 fitness classes are on a first come, first served basis. The Fitness Pass does not guarantee a spot; capacity remains limited to maintain physical distancing.

Based on Phase 3 guidelines, here are the capacities per room:

Chinook 20 (Spin) = 10

Chinook 20 (STRONG, Mo-Flex) = 15

Chinook 22 = 15

Chinook 30 = 21

Chinook B40 = 16

Separate registration is required for the two online Yoga classes. Registration is open until August 15 here.

FREE Special Event Fitness Classes

Join us for a variety of fun fitness classes! We have FREE online and in-person options at the Student Recreation Center. Non-members with a WSU NID will be able to join online classes but will need to purchase a membership to access the facility for in-person classes. Registration is required; no drop-ins currently permitted. The Zoom links for online classes will be emailed upon registration.

Interested in building strength in every major muscle group while having a blast? Try Body Pump! Work through eight tracks in this 50-minute long Les Mills format that will surely challenge everyone, every time, with compound and isolation movements using a barbell, free weights, body weight, and an aerobic step. Class times and capacity reflect physical distancing guidelines. All patrons will receive a confirmation email upon registration with detailed protocols that everyone must follow. It is recommended that high-risk patrons stay home to stay healthy. We appreciate your cooperation. We will NOT have fitness classes on Monday, May 31 (Memorial Day), Sunday, July 4 (Independence Day), and Sunday, August 1 (SRC Closed Week). There will STILL be fitness classes on Saturday, July 3 and Monday, July 5. FITNESS SCHEDULE This summer, we will have three sessions; separate registrations are required per session. Session 1 (May 10-June 20) and Session 2 (June 21-August 1) will have both in-person and online classes. Session 3 will be a pass system, in which you can attend as many in-person classes as you want from August 2-15. See urec.wsu.edu/fitness for details. Let's work to reveal the champion within ourselves in this circuit-style, non-contact boxing format with values rooted in women's empowerment and community! We will focus on setting goals and growing stronger through boxing and conditioning drills, together. Class purchase includes hand wraps, gloves, and the Pink Gloves Boxing Manual (gloves are required and will be available for use). Class times and capacity reflect physical distancing guidelines. All patrons will receive a confirmation email upon registration with detailed protocols that everyone must follow. It is recommended that high-risk patrons stay home to stay healthy.
