Daniel Coifman
Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach
For the first 15 years of my life, I was scared of exercise. When I signed up to play football—a sport I loved—the weight room intimidated me the most. Over time, I saw incredible progress and gained confidence in myself and my abilities. These experiences shaped my passion for fitness and drive to help others achieve their goals. As your personal trainer, I’ll use a science-based, empathetic approach to craft a program tailored to your unique needs, whether your focus is on just learning about the gym, optimizing your body composition, or trying to gain more athleticism at all levels of experience. My mission is to not only help you reach your goals but also build lasting confidence along the way.
Beyond personal training, I’ve worked extensively as an educator. I’ve taught students of all ages as a tutor and coached young swimmers, learning how to adapt to each person’s learning style. I also spent a semester in strength and conditioning at Washington State University, working with collegiate athletes in baseball, track and field, and girls’ soccer. Whether you’re just starting out or already experienced, I understand both the challenges of beginning a fitness journey and the demands of advanced training, and I’ll be here to guide and support you every step of the way.

Beginning in elementary school and building to freshman year of high school I feared sports, I was intimidated. I had a negative self-image as I remember receiving comments about my body. My 8th grade P.E teacher changed this, I saw him as a mentor who pushed me out of my comfort zone. He taught high school football and convinced me to try out which was an unforgettable experience that significantly altered my direction in life as I fell in love with fitness. I became healthier and I felt confident in my own skin. Since then, I’ve developed a passion for bodybuilding and cycling. I want to impact others like he impacted me.
Within my programming I create a productive yet encouraging environment that is an experience rather than just a workout. I want to help you achieve your goals; enhancing both you’re physical fitness and mental fitness through my background in psychology. The end goal for me is to encourage you to have positive feelings towards exercise, so that one day you can continue your fitness journey independently passing on the gift to others. I will use my education in Kinesiology to help create an effective and time efficient workout prescription to fuel your success. Using an additional background in sports and my passion in bodybuilding I will create a program designed for your needs.

I was the "big" kid in elementary school—the one regularly called the Pillsbury Doughboy. When I started wrestling, a sport centered around weight management, I succumbed to external pressures to lose weight quickly and unsafely. Relying heavily on anecdotal advice led to repeated cycles of yo-yo dieting and frustration. It took considerable time and experience to learn how to manage my body composition safely and effectively, but this journey sparked a genuine passion for health, fitness, and learning.
Fast forward to today—I’m a researcher at WSU’s Exercise Physiology & Performance Laboratory (EPPL), investigating exercise intervention methods, wearable technology effectiveness, and safety enhancements for ultra-endurance sports. As a lab member, I perform comprehensive exercise testing and analysis of body composition. Secondarily, I help (EPPL) clients achieve body recomposition goals through evidence-based exercise intervention strategies.
I'm also an Athletic Training student, supporting WSU’s Division 1 athletes in the weight room and clinical settings. My role involves managing diverse sports-related pathologies, working closely with our sports medicine team to guide athletes through postoperative recovery and return-to-play protocols. Additionally, I focus on improving daily life and activity for athletes by addressing chronic injuries and functional limitations.
Over the past year, I’ve applied my personal training certification as an instructor for Kinese Active courses, such as Beginner's Weight Training and Couch to 5K. My primary goal as an instructor is to help students discover aspects of physical activity they enjoy. Regardless of experience level or fitness background, I strive to ensure each student finds joy in movement.
As a personal trainer, I integrate my experiences into my practice, creating a unique, enjoyable, and effective training environment tailored specifically to each client.

Stress sucks. These two words carry so much impact and mean so many things to so many different people, but what matters is how we deal with it. I believe that so long as we are moving our bodies, we make that stress just that a bit easier to deal with. That’s where I come in to help you!
Starting college in my mid-twenties, I know what it’s like to tell yourself that it’s too late to start. It’s never too late. I too know what it’s like to fall off the exercise horse and not recover immediately. That’s why I try to work with clients who may need help with that first step, but it’s up to you to take that first step. With my background in Triathlon, Iron man, and strength training, I am confident that I can get you to where you want to be and I’ll be there every step of the way.

I have a passion for sharing my love of exercise and helping others find their joy in fitness. Growing up playing sports and getting introduced to strength training during high school basketball, I discovered not only the physical benefits of fitness but also the mental and emotional empowerment it brings. This passion led me to pursue kinesiology and dive deeper into understanding how our bodies move and how exercise can enhance our lives.
My goal is to help you experience the same love for fitness that has transformed my life. I have struggled a lot with body image and comparison, and fitness has helped to completely reframe my way of thinking and see myself in a different light. I believe fitness is personal to everyone, and the more tailored your training is to your unique needs, the more likely you are to see lasting results. Whether you're training for a sport-specific goal, wanting to get stronger, build confidence, improve your overall health, or improve your relationship with movement, I’ll design a program that fits your lifestyle, motivates you, and gets you excited about progress.
Exercise is for everyone, and I’m here to support and guide you every step of the way. Let’s work together to help you reach your goals and fall in love with fitness along the way!

My approach as a trainer stems from a lifelong love of fitness and a background in biology and public health. My personal training history includes 20+ years of strength training, 25+ half marathons (road and trail), several competitive powerlifting meets, and 3 years of collegiate track and cross-country. Over this time, I have not only learned the skills to coach movement and achieve high-performance goals, but also to manage injury and burnout.
My training philosophy focuses on sustainable routines that support overall health, performance, and longevity. I combine strength training, mobility, and recovery to help clients move better, feel stronger, and stay consistent for the long term. I emphasize the importance of self-compassion and confidence in training to help my clients overcome their inner critic through a growth mindset
Having adapted my own training through many injuries and chronic health challenges, I prioritize individualized programming, realistic goal-setting, and a balanced approach to fitness to promote my clients' physical, mental, emotional, and social health. Whether your goal is performance-driven or focused on general wellness, I’m here to help you train effectively, recover well, and build confidence in your movement.

The gym has always felt like a second home to me. Growing up with a father and an older brother who were both CrossFit coaches, I was practically raised around barbells and community-driven fitness. Alongside that, 16 years of dance taught me how to truly listen to my body, moving with awareness and intention from a very young age. Because of this background, I’ve always felt incredibly comfortable and confident in fitness spaces, and my ultimate goal is to help you feel that exact same way.
Whether you are stepping onto the gym floor for the very first time or looking to take your training to the next level, I’m here to take the guesswork out of the process. Together, we’ll build a foundation of functional strength that leaves you feeling powerful, capable, and confident in your own skin.
I believe that fitness should be a rewarding, uplifting part of your day, an experience to look forward to, rather than just a grueling chore. In our sessions, you can expect an encouraging, supportive, and judgment-free environment. By blending the fluid movement patterns of dance with the functional strength of CrossFit and smart personal training, I create efficient, personalized workouts tailored to your unique body and goals.
My real mission isn't just to coach you through a workout; it’s to give you the tools, proper form, and mindset you need to navigate any gym with total confidence. I want to set you up for a lifetime of healthy, independent movement, so you can enjoy the journey and eventually share that positive energy with others.
